The Research Behind the Work
My expertise isn't theoretical. While I'm building this practice, I also run a research program at the University of Waterloo with millions of dollars in funding and partnerships with organizations including RBC Royal Bank of Canada, TD Bank, Rogers, Scotiabank, the Canadian Association of Journalists (CAJ), the International Test Pilots School (ITPS) Canada, and government agencies like NSERC, SSHRC, CIHR, and Mitacs.
I've published in the top venues in human-computer interaction (CHI, CSCW, CHI PLAY), earned multiple Best Paper awards, co-edited Games User Research (Oxford University Press), and founded the ACM CHI PLAY conference. I was ranked in the top 10 most-cited HCI researchers (2011–2020) and the top 2% of researchers worldwide.
